Epicage® Lumbar Interbody System

The Epicage Lumbar Interbody System was introduced to address the disadvantages of traditional Lumbar Interbody Fusion techniques. These include the difficulty in accurate implant placement, the inability to adjust desired disc space lordosis, and limitations in bone graft delivery options.

The Epicage System incorporates the ease of delivering a bullet-shaped cage and the biomechanically ideal shape of a crescent-shaped cage in a single implant. Using a unique set of delivery instruments and a system of trials that accurately mimic the implant trajectory, the Epicage Lumbar Interbody System consistently delivers the cage midline in the anterior third of the disc space, allows adjustment of the desired lordosis, and enables efficient bone grafting to a larger surface area for fusion.

Implant placement is controlled with no need for excessive force or impaction to deliver the implant into the intervertebral space. Potential devastating vascular complications from accidental implant delivery beyond the anterior annulus are therefore avoided. Bone graft delivery is done efficiently through the same portal as the implant placement, thus minimizing surgical procedure steps and potentially decrease operating time.
